Crossing Protection and Safety Measure for the Jessel Green Playground Entrance

We the undersigned petition the council to We the undersigned petition the council to provide a park-side pavement to the entrance of Jessel Green playground on Colebrook Lane.

The entrance to Jessel Green playground on Colebrook Lane in Debden has inadequate pedestrian access and is an urgent safety concern for residents as there have been several near-accidents involving cars and pedestrians.

There is currently no pavement provision along the Jessel Green side of Colebrook Lane, forcing parents, children and buggies to cross the road between parked cars on top of a dangerous blind spot for cars who are often speeding.

Within a few minutes walk of the playground is Hereward Primary School, which is also situated along Colebrook Lane on the same side as the park. The park is frequently used before and after school during the greatest car and foot traffic times. Parents en route to the park need to cross the road at the school and cross back again at this dangerous blindspot.

There are no other access points to the park as there is a barrier surrounding the park and it is not suitable for wheelchair-users or buggies. Residents feel that this is an accident waiting to happen and it does not provide adequate access for wheelchair users and buggies.
