Part C - General Information

1.

Former Councillor Norma Green OBE

The Council has been advised of the death of former Councillor Norma Green, member for the High Beach ward of the district from 1995 to 2002

 

The funeral for former Councillor Green will take place at The Abbey (Waltham Abbey Church), Waltham Abbey at 12.30pm on 11 November 2019. The family have requested no flowers, but that donations in memory of Norma Green can be made to the YES Partnership through http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fund/YES/NormaGreen or cheques made payable to YES Partnership, care of Howard Green, Duncan Phillips Ltd, 19 Sun Street, Waltham Abbey, EN9 1ER.

Risk Management Training - Rescheduled

Please be advised that we have cancelled the Member Training on Risk Management that was scheduled for 7 November due to a lack of attendees.

 

We have rescheduled the session to 6pm on Monday 27 January, immediately before the Audit and Governance Committee.

 

It is important that members of Audit and Governance Committee Members attend. All other Members are welcome to attend.

Member Training - Safeguarding

Member Training - Electronic Expenses Claims

Please be reminded that Member Training on Electronic Expenses Claims is scheduled for Tuesday 26 November from 7pm ~ 9pm.

 

It is important that Members attend as we will shortly be moving to the electronic claims system that has recently been rolled out to staff. When this happens we will no longer be able to accept paper expenses.

 

We are also looking for volunteers to trial the system.

Economic Strategy Stakeholder Event - Revised

On the 13th of November the council is hosting an Economic Strategy Stakeholder Event.. The event is running from 9:00am to 13:00pm and is taking place at Theydon Village Hall (Coppice Row, Theydon Bois, Epping CM16 7ER). Elected members are very welcome to attend.

 

Local businesses and other partners are being offered the opportunity to have their say on the new long term economic plan for the Epping Forest District, as outlined in the discussion paper 'Nurturing Growth'. ‘Nurturing growth’ looks at identifying priorities for joint working and sets out potential practical actions that could be adopted and this conference is an opportunity for anyone with an interest in the District's economic future to put forward their point of view. Overview & Scrutiny Committee

It is hoped that the Chief Officer of Voluntary Action Epping Forest (VAEF) will be able to attend the meeting of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee to be held on 19 November 2019.

 

If members have any specific questions that they would like to raise with VAEF at the meeting, please send written notification of such matters to democraticservices@eppingforestdc.gov.uk by 11 November 2019.  In accordance with usual practice, notice of all questions and the scope of matters to be raised by members will be provided to the Chief Officer of VAEF in advance of the meeting.

The notification of decisions taken by individual Portfolio Holders is no longer included in the Council Bulletin.

 

All members of the Council receive automatic email notification of the publication of each individual Portfolio Holder decision and the call-in period for each decision commences immediately. Members wishing to call-in a decision should complete the attached call-in form and return it to Democratic Services before the expiry of five working days following the publication date of the decision. Members should refer to the Constitution (Article 6 - Overview and Scrutiny) for the rules of call-in.
